A mudbike helps me get out to ride in the rain because its ready to go for a quick ride and easier to clean than my higher-end mountain bike.

There are 2 conditions that determine your options when it's muddy -
1. Swampy = Trail is still rideable
2. Soupy = Time to hit the pavement instead
